Palawan has always been a special place in my heart and I always find myself traveling here like every year. Now, I found myself staying here indefinitely because I got a place to do volunteer work. At first, I stayed with a friend for more than a month. But there are times that I also want to spend my time to meet other travelers.

Bamboo Hostel and Tours
The owners Rye and Tina are travelers and decided to create a quiet space in beautiful Palawan for fellow travelers. Rye has lived in five countries: the Philippines, the USA, Colombia, Brazil, and Cambodia.
With their ethos: “Bamboo Hostel is made by travelers, for travelers.” They have several volunteers from all over the world who helped to work on the hostel through Workaway. I found out I am the first Filipina volunteer. I directly sent an email with the interest of working on their website in exchange for free accommodation.

Bamboo Hostel’s mission is to provide a peaceful environment to tired backpackers through cleanliness, friendly service, and reasonable prices. In my own experience, I always wake up on a sunny day with blue skies and hearing the bird’s chirping. When it’s raining, it’s just chill. The feels with mother nature. If you’re into meditation and yoga, it’s a good place to just do it yourself. The place has a good space for everyone.
The staff here are very friendly. If you meet the main receptionist, Rose, she can also help you with the tours and transfers.
Clean Common Toilets and Showers
Just a heads up that they don’t have a hot shower but rest assured that the toilets and showers are always clean.
Tree House Lounge
This is a common area where travelers just gather, talk, read a book and enjoy the hammock.
Chilling and Smoking Area
If a group of travelers decides to socialize with drinking and smoking or just chatting, feel free.
As a digital nomad, I am also able to work with my online job so that I can have money while traveling.
