How to Get to Siargao Island
Fly from Cebu to Siargao Island
Siargao is accessible by direct flights from Manila and Cebu via airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and SkyJet.
From my personal experience with friends, my friend booked me a flight to Siargao from Cebu; it was so cheap, so I said yes right away to join them.
Boat trip from Cebu to Siargao Island
If you’re traveling on a budget, you can also take a ferry from Surigao City.
From my personal experience, my friend booked us a boat to Surigao City from Cebu City, which takes 12 to 13 hours of travel with Cokaliong Shipping Lines or Medallion Shipping Lines. We took Medallion Shipping Lines. To reach Siargao, we took the ferry ride for 2 hours from Surigao City.
Best Time to Visit Siargao Island
- Surfing Season (August to November) – If you want to experience world-class waves, visit during these months.
- Dry Season (March to May) – Best for island hopping and beach trips with clear blue skies.
- Off-Peak Season (June to July) – Fewer crowds and more affordable accommodations.
Best Things to Do in Siargao Island
1. Surf at Cloud 9
Siargao’s most famous surf spot is Cloud 9, known for its powerful waves and scenic boardwalk. If you’re a beginner, head to Jacking Horse or Quicksilver for gentler waves.
My friend Alieth, an avid surfer, brought me to Siargao first. She brought her own board at that time, and I rented a board on the island. My surf instructor happens to be our friend, so we just called him to meet us, and I paid for his time to train me.
2. Siargao Island Hopping to Naked, Daku, and Guyam Islands
Go on a Siargao Island Hopping Tour with Klook and visit:
- Naked Island – A picturesque sandbar with crystal-clear waters.
- Daku Island – Perfect for beach picnics and fresh seafood.
- Guyam Island – A tiny tropical paradise with palm trees and stunning views.
3. Explore Sugba Lagoon
Paddle through the turquoise waters of Sugba Lagoon book with Klook and enjoy activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and cliff jumping.
4. Swim at Magpupungko Rock Pools
During low tide, Magpupungko Rock Pools reveal stunning natural pools with crystal-clear waters—perfect for swimming and cliff diving.
5. Discover the Enchanted River at Sohoton Cove
Visit Sohoton Cove – book with Klook and explore its mystical caves, jellyfish sanctuary, and luminous lagoons.
6. Take a Dip in Tayangban Cave Pool
This hidden cave pool features underground rivers and rock formations—a must-visit for adventure seekers.
7. Enjoy a Sunset at Maasin River’s Bent Palm Tree
Take a relaxing swing on the famous bent coconut tree over Maasin River and enjoy a scenic paddleboat ride.
8. Chase Waterfalls at TakTak Falls
The only waterfall in Siargao, TakTak Falls is a refreshing retreat from the beach and a great spot for a picnic.
9. Party at Siargao Nightlife Spots
Experience island nightlife at bars like Loose Keys, RumBar, or Harana, where locals and tourists gather for drinks and music.
The video below was from Hotspot near Cloud 9.
10. Try Local Delicacies & Fresh Seafood
- Shaka Café – Famous for smoothie bowls.
- Kermit Siargao – Serves the best Italian pizzas.
- Mama’s Grill – A budget-friendly BBQ spot.
I haven’t tried the Shaka Cafe. Friends and I went to Kermit Siargao, but it was full when we arrived. It is better to get there earlier or make a reservation. Mama’s Grill was one of the budget-friendly local restaurants; my surf instructor recommended it.
11. Rent and Drive a Motorbike as a Solo Female Traveler
You can rent a motorbike from PHP 350 to 500. When I was left alone as my friends had to go back to Cebu for work, I just searched along the neighborhood for any available motorbike for rent. I got it for PHP 500 for a day, which was not bad because it was almost new when I rented it.
