My 10 Roller Coaster Ride Experiences in Japan

Call me crazy, but I just went to Japan and tried my 10 best roller coasters in Japan. No, I’m just kidding. I just didn’t ride once, but it was all over again and again. I was really scared to ride a roller coaster and I never tried it when I was in Laguna, Philippines at Enchanted Kingdom. Since it was my first time in Japan, my Japanese family brought us at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, I was able to ride the Hollywood Dream both the forward and backward ride.

There were several visitors at Universal Studios Japan. You have to wait 45 minutes to 1 hour for the roller coaster. Not to mention the Wizarding World of Harry Potter which it took us 2-3 hours. One day was not enough since there were some attractions that I missed, but I still could not get over with the roller coaster which I really enjoyed the most.

It was an exhilarating experience at Universal Studios, that is why on the next day, we went to the Nagashima Spa Land. I had all the roller coaster rides with a wait time of less than 30 minutes. That was then I was able to ride twice to some other roller coasters.

Since I don’t have my own videos of the rides because I don’t have a GoPro, I just embedded the videos from YouTube by the corresponding owners.

Universal Studios Japan in Osaka – Roller Coasters in Japan

1. Hollywood Dream – The Ride

This is a steel roller coaster, a conventional moving forward ride with personal music you can choose. I wasn’t aware of the music so I think it was automatically chosen. Oh, that feeling when I was on top with the best view of Universal Studios, I was just screaming for joy, and at the same time releasing all my tensions and stress.

2. Hollywood Dream – Backdrop

This is the backward version and this time I was able to choose a good music, ‘Feel This Moment’ by Pitbull ft. Christina Aguilera. The song really goes with the feeling that I had. It was late afternoon, so I saw the night view of Universal Studios and it was really awesome.

3. White Cyclone

This is the first wooden roller coaster I tried in my life. I can’t believe that this is the 3rd longest wooden roller coaster in the world and also the longest wooden roller coaster outside of the US. White Cyclone is also considered as the seventh tallest wooden roller coaster in the world, and the fourth tallest wooden roller coaster outside the United States. I was screaming, but there was a time that no voice could come out because my throat became dry and I tried to swallow my saliva.

4. Steel Dragon 2000

This roller coaster opened in the Year of the Dragon 2000. It is one of the world’s tallest complete-circuit coaster. It currently holds for the longest track length of 8,133 ft (2,479 meters). It is the second fastest coaster in Japan and the sixth fastest in the world. Me and my niece rode this twice because this was so exciting.

5. Ultra Twister

Another crazy roller coaster ride is the Ultra Twister. At first, the car is kind of slow until it flips you and everything goes twisted. You got to scream for more and yes I rode this twice.

6. Wild Mouse

Wild Mouse looks like a kiddie roller coaster ride. It is said that the installation to the right is a mirror image. It was a fun ride though.

7. Shuttle Loop

Shuttle loop is a short but sweet ride which I felt like less than a minute. It is said as one of six shuttle loop roller coasters still operating in the world.

8. Looping Star

Another looping ride experience with Looping Star and I felt like my soul was flying away. I didn’t care to take photos because we were already running out of time and we had to run to the next ride. LOL

9. Cork Screw

I almost forgot that I was able to ride Cork Screw, another steel roller coaster at 1,279-foot long. Watching the video, I felt like I had amnesia if I was able to take this ride or not. LOL

10. Jet Coaster

Jet Coaster is a weird and funny ride with only seat belt to hold you. There was a kid who was riding alone so we could say that this was not a challenging ride. Hehe!

Well, yes, I felt like a kid in two days, which my two nieces thought that I don’t look like their aunt as I was so excited running from one ride to another. Nagashima Spa Land closed at 5PM which I could say it was too early to close for an amusement park.

  1. Awesome experience! I’ve never tried riding a roller coaster. I’m such a wimp. The loops look so scary and I’m a bit scared of heights. Haha. 10 roller coasters in 2 days wow, I might have puked all over the place If i were you. Hope to conquer my fear of riding a roller coaster before I die. Thanks for sharing this!

    1. Haha yes! in 2 days super ka aliw. I had to face my fears since it was once in a life time all-expense paid pa ang Universal Studio Japan at saka Nagashima Spa Land. Sinulit ko lang talaga! Haha!

    1. Hahaha! Hindi ako napagod during the time I was there during the roller coaster rides. Napagod lang ako after kain kasi ang dami food. Kapag busog, makakatulog ka talaga. Hehe!
