3 Days and 2 Nights Travel Guide for Siquijor Dumaguete Trip

siquijor

Last May of 2013, I was able to book a flight to Dumaguete for the first time through Cebu Pacific Air with its Piso Fare promo. Since I’ve been bragging about our Siquijor-Dumaguete trip with a bonus trip or stop-over in Manila (originally posted on my personal blog here), this time I’ll be posting our itinerary and expenses here. Some of my friends are pressuring me to post the important info.

How to Get to Siquijor?

By Bus or Own Vehicle

  • When you’re in Cebu, you can go to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental by bus at Cebu South Bus Terminal or with your own vehicle bound to Liloan port. The traveling hours is from 3 to 4 hours. I don’t know the real cost of the fare but just prepare P200. I also don’t know the cost when you bring your vehicle with you.

By Airplane

  • As mentioned earlier, from Cebu we took the Cebu Pacific flight going to Dumaguete (round trip fare for P950 each person). It took us less than an hour. From the Sibulan airport in Dumaguete, we took a tricycle ride to the port (P30 each).
  • From Dumaguete port, you can find several ferries going to Siquijor for about 1 hour and 30 minutes (or less) of travel. The fare is P120 plus P15 for the terminal fee with a total of P135.

We had our breakfast at Kamalig before we settled ourselves going to Siquijor for P55 each.

Where to Stay in Siqujor?

Aventura Bed and Breakfast

aventura 01

Aventura Bed & Breakfast Siquijor is a small hostel which is located in San Juan, Siquijor (opposite side of the Petron gas station). It is really near to Capilay Spring Park and 2-minute walking distance to the beach. It is an old traditional house in a typical Filipino neighborhood. Getting into the house gives you the homely and family atmosphere. Definitely, I am enjoying my stay here.

Staying at Lorna’s End of the World

Upon arrival in Siquijor port, we took a tricycle ride worth P200 to Lorna’s End of the World.

We stayed at Lorna’s End of the World for two nights. The room is worth P500 per night with kitchen so it was really nice that we were able to cook our food there. We went to their market and buy important stuff like sachets of coffee, 3 kilos of rice, a half kilo of fish, and some ingredients. Since we were four during the trip, we add P200 per night for the extra bed good for 2 persons. So a total of P1400 for two nights. Lorna is so nice and also her husband. They wanted us to be feel at home but away from the civilization.

Tour Around Siquijor

On our first night, we just took some rest but we just talked the whole night until sleep. On the next day, we had our day tour from 9 AM to 5 PM. The tricycle driver, who took us to Lorna’s End of the World, was also our guide during the tour. The worth of the tour is P1,000 but fortunately, we were able to negotiate for P900. The driver has a map with him to show the tourists which places to go. The tour includes: Capilay Spring, Balete Tree, Lazi Church and Convent, Cambugahay Falls, Salagdoong Beach, The Oldest House, Guiwanon Spring Park, Tulapos Marine Sanctuary and St. Francis Parish Church. I’ll create a separate posts about this.

Back in Dumaguete

We left Lorna’s End of the World around 8:00 AM for a tricycle ride worth P80 and I guess it was 8:30 AM we left Siquijor going back in Dumaguete. The fare and terminal fee is still the same worth P135.

Staying at Harold’s Mansion

Since we were 4, we chose the Suite Aircon Room for P1,300. It has cable tv, PABX phone, hot and cold shower and complimentary WIFI. I’ll create another separate post about this.

Tour Around Dumaguete

We took advantage of the free bikes to use at Harold’s Mansion. By the time we arrived at the mansion, we took some rest and later which was almost lunch, we prepared ourselves for a DIY tour around Dumaguete. Dumaguete is a bike-friendly city and it was really a nice feeling.

We had our lunch worth P70 (unlimited rice plus chicken) at D & C Manokan. After our lunch, we went to Ninoy Aquino Freedom Park, Santa Catalina de Alexandria Church and Bellfry, Silliman University and Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries.

We had our dinner just across Harold’s Mansion, a simple carenderia, and we only spent P165 good for 4 persons.

On the next day, it was the time for us to leave Dumaguete. The tricycle fee back to Sibulan Airport is P15. The terminal fee in the airport is worth P30 each.

Because of the Unexpected Happening – Manila Trip

Instead of going back to Cebu right away, our flight was changed and re-scheduled into Dumaguete-Manila-Cebu. I’ll make another separate post about it. Just expect another blog post series here. 😀

Expenses and Itineraries

Anyway,  here’s the necessary expenses I’ve listed here. Some miscellaneous expenses we had we’re not included on the list. This list is just a guide but I’m sure you can spend lesser than this.
